Just like Hollywood (sort of), the football blogging community has its very own awards season. The ceremonies may involve fewer £1,000 dinner suits, international superstars and stunningly attractive women, but, to people like me who spend their spare time beavering away at keyboards as a means to some indefinable end, they’re one of the highlights of the footballing calendar.

This year ‘The Equaliser’ has been lucky enough to be nominated for a couple of awards, namely ‘Best New Football Website‘ by Soccerlens and ‘Best Blog‘ at the NOPAs. While I recognise that the competition is extremely strong, if this here humble blog is your favourite of those listed any votes would be greatly appreciated.

On the subject of the NOPAs, the chaps at Picklive are putting on a big awards night at Hoxton Hall on the 15th December which is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Food and entertainment will be provided, with awards being presented by such luminaries as Guardian Sport’s Barry Glendenning, ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley and The Football Ramble’s very own Luke Moore. Tickets cost £20 and can be bought here, with all proceeds going to the Down’s Syndrome Association.

I hope to see you there; and remember, a vote for The Equaliser is a vote for change.
