September 4th is Non-League Day

A campaign has recently sprung up across various social media platforms encouraging UK-based fans of Premier League and Championship clubs to use Saturday September 4th – a day with no games scheduled in the top two divisions – as an opportunity to go and watch their local non-league side in action.

With the semi-professional game struggling in the current financial climate, getting more people involved with the game at that level is vital to ensuring that it continues to develop and thrive in the years to come, so such an initiative should be roundly welcomed.

The people behind the campaign have set up pages on Facebook and Twitter as well as creating a handy map with the location of all the day’s non-league games plotted on it, so there really are no excuses not to go and support your local club. Get involved on September 4th, you won’t regret it!
